If I hadn’t met you

 

Memories take their place with time,

You become better and everything else just waits,

From a distance, I look at you,

You lure me towards a place,

I am unknown to,

My world stops and I try to recall every word you said,

“Love is a beautiful feeling and I wish to stay.”

 

Walks in the night are no more alone,

It’s your shadow that meets me,

When all are gone,

Your woodsy scent perfumes me,

As ghost, of your memories pass me,

Deep within my heart pounds as I say your name,

I try to blow kisses,

Wishing foolishly you will reply the same.

 

On the shores of our hearts, we meet again,

Where love tastes like a wine,

And we are fearless again,

You no longer pretend to be saint,

And I don’t act like an angel,

Waiting to commit her first sin with the saint,

Pain and loneliness don’t trouble there anymore,

Only new memories are made,

As we melt into each other for long.

This is the most complex & interesting poem I've read from you! I love the way your meaning is subtle, but conveyed with a strong sense of how this might feel. There are a million poems written about love & loss, many sounding similar. That's why I love your poem so much, becuz you put this experience into uncommon terms that make the reader think & imagine even more possibilities. My favorite part is the beginning of V2, walking & noticing the woodsy scent . . . that's very imaginative & I've felt this very thing with my best friend who died a few years ago, as if we are spending time together still (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
