The Bus QueueA Poem by EllaI stand patiently and wait, For the eight-one-nine, Should be along any minute now, I am the first in line, "The bus is late" - one man tuts, Whilst another inspects his watch, Should be along any minute now, There is some talk about the weather, "They've forecasted heavy rain tonight", Announces an old man, "So I've heard", replies the other, I stand ready with my pass, And wonder how long, This small talk will last, Not long, for the bus is now here, The bus driver changes down the gears, I offer my seat to the old man, The majority are left to stand, He thanks me kindly, No problem, I think to myself, I am glad I can. So next time you come across an elderly person, Think how little it takes to make them smile, If everyone did one good deed per day, The world would be better, come what may! © 2012 EllaFeatured Review
