Sober

Sober

A Poem by revenant21

Sober

You suckle your booze

Swallow your vodka

Blind to the obvious

Why won’t you sober?

So blind to the world

So ignorant to your own disease

We all plead you

Why won’t you sober?

We want to have hope

We want to have faith

But once you show signs

You fall down again

Will you ever sober?

Lie to our faces

With words sour and slurred

Why do you lie when we know you’re not sober?

He buys his daughter an apartment

While you live with a stranger

And you still believe that he really cares

Will you ever wake up and sober?

Take a swig more of whiskey

A sip more of wine

Sorry to bother

But won’t you riddle me this:

When will you sober?

You hurt your mother

Insult your father

Just go on

Take a gulp of tequila

A bottle more of Jack

When will you ever wake up and sober?

a very deep and powerful piece... i really thought you did great on this piece... the effects of alcoholism can be quite haunting to see someone turn into someone you don't seem to know anymore... awesome job on this!!

This has quite an impact, its so very emotional. I feel like this something thats incredibly personal and i can see the pain in each line. The loss of faith, and the desire to have hope... this is amazing truly, a wonderful poem
