"

possible trigger warning. a short poem about a girl suffering with depression.

"

Impulse

she was young and popular

She had a boyfriend.

She told her friends everything, all her memories, crushes, and secrets…

Well not everything one secret she'll never tell. one word.

  DEPRESSION.

On the outside she was smiling, talking as if nothing's wrong

On the inside she was dying

she woke up every morning trying to find a reason to live.

grasping at any hope or light.

some days were good. The lighter days

she got out of bed easily

her smile was almost real

some days were bad

she got out of bed with resistance

her smile faded in and out

on the really bad days she picked up the knife

she drew with silver and it turned red. magic.

on the worst days she would decide between life and death

this time she chose death

she tied a rope around her neck she took the knife and slit her wrists

then she stepped off the chair the only keeping her from death.

her last thought being its better this way.

Her boyfriend found her an hour later when she didn't return his calls

by the time she was found, it was too late

his only words were I wish she told me, I could have helped, maybe she would still be alive

I'm still working on technique. This is one of my first pieces so please tell me what you think but be gentle. I grew up with New Zealand grammar so if there are grammar mistakes I am sorry.

i like the poem. describes one of the main nowadays problem. People dont open up and dont say what they really feel . They are afraid of being judged, or misunderstood, afraid to seem vulnerable....

Sad and somber. Unfortunately this story is relatable to too many people including myself. Depression grows inside of you and you try to hide it but eventually when you look in the mirror you don't see yourself anymore you see this disease and you want to kill this disease but you wind up killing yourself and that's the tragic part of it all
