My PrescriptionA Poem by S.C.WolfeI can overcome the feelings of depression if only for moments By closing my eyes and thinking of the way you Trace words on my skin with your fingertips at night. I imagine you’re writing the formula to cure my sadness, Letting each letter sink into my skin straight down to my bones. It’s silly I know, because you’re only tracing out the words "I love you" on my back but I’ve discovered that No doctor can give me a prescription with a side effect Of pure happiness the way that you can, so You’ll have to excuse me as I bury my face Into the spot where your neck meets your shoulders Because that’s the place I call my home. It’s familiar, safe, and warm there and I’d like to never leave.
