Your Voice

Your Voice

A Poem by Essa G

Your Voice

All at once

The moonlight streamed

And I heard your voice

Calling to me

I awoke to find

No one here but I

Looked outside and your silhouette

Had a halo

And I rushed out the door

Wasn’t thinking anymore

My thoughts clouded my mind

I’d been waiting, after all this time

All at once

The moonlight streamed

And I heard your voice

Calling to me

I didn’t stop to check

My reflection in the mirror

I just ran across the grass

Your figure became clearer

As I threw myself in your arms

You held me tight and I didn’t wanna

Let go, but I took a step back

And saw your smile glow (3x)

All at once

The moonlight streamed

And I heard your voice

Calling to me

Seeing you here

Here you stand

And I almost can’t believe

You’re with me

Feeling you close

I breathe your breath

We stand side by side

Together in peace

And I want you to stay

Don’t leave like before

I’m sorry I didn’t mean it

And I hope you can forgive me

‘Cause I’m sorry, oh I’m so sorry

I swear I didn’t mean it

And I promise

I’ll never let you go

‘Cause all at once

The moonlight streamed

And I heard your voice

Calling to me

I never asked you to

But you read my eyes

You heard my silent pleas

And my cries

So thank you dear

For healing me

For showing me how bend

And how to love

And one of these nights

It’ll be my voice

Calling to you

So thank you

For not giving up

On me and on us

And what we

Could be

‘Cause all at once

The moonlight streamed

And I heard your voice

Calling to me

I heard your voice

I heard your voice

Calling

To me

Calling to me.
