through the eyes of a butterfly

through the eyes of a butterfly

A Poem by shawnt5604

Vicariously I
Strive and I try
Despite the demented lives
That live beneath these eyes
But today its as simple
As a world fitting in one thimble
Mind attempting to be nimble
Working around a world so wicked
Life stricken
With a realization that has me sickened
As vicariously i
Live my life through the eyes of a butterfly

Something so simple, yet so beautiful
Floating so gracefully across the sky
Has me thinking now
About my own life
And why
I complicate my situations so much
Forgetting the meaning
Of a loved one's touch
And the infectiousness of a smile
That can last the next person
For miles
This life we so easily get confused
With all the things taken for granted
And abused
But today I'll slow my life down
And quit looking for a good reason why
Not to enjoy my life
As vicariously I
Live my life through the eyes of a butterfly

Awesome. I love butterflies, so your metophor had me hooked instantly :P But I also love what you had to say in this about life being made over-complicated. I found a quote by Don Draper recently, "Make it simple, but significant," and this poem fits that idea beautifully; enjoying life is finding beauty in the little things.
