Winter's Game

Winter's Game

A Poem by Gladys
"

Welcoming spring

"

Icicles, daggers of sparkling glass

Teeth that put all else to shame

Hypnotic dewdrops on cold grass

Enticing you to winter's game

What's a game without a maze?

Skeleton trees obscure your path

A gust slams needles in your face

Holding you to winter's wrath

Once you're in, you can't turn back

Lost in a greyscale world of art

Frozen ashes cover your tracks

Luring you to winter's heart

A dab of colour, beloved light!

A trick, perhaps, of your desire

Hallucinating through hazy sight

The timid glow of winter's fire

There she sits, a frosty blue

The game-maker does not thrive

Lady Winter, just like you

Struggling to stay alive
