I Need

This poem is about something I've been feeling lately about my family. It puts everything I've needed to say for these past few weeks into words.

 

I need to be somewhere I can feel.

I need to be somewhere you can hear me.

I need to be somewhere you can believe me.

I need to be somewhere you can see how much you’re hurting me.

 

I need you to see that I’m hurt.

I need you to see that you can change that.

I need you to see that it’s not my fault.

I need you to see that you can fix this.

 

I need you to stop bragging about your son.

I need you to stop talking about only your son.

I need you to stop neglecting your daughter.

I need you to stop and listen.

 

I need attention.

I need love.

I need happiness.

I need no pain.
