Welcome to the OutsideA Poem by Susanna FWelcome to the outside Where nothing quite makes sense So many ideas to choose from What's real and what are lies? I just want to know everything To figure out what's true Or safe enough to believe in We all need to trust something Even if it's only ourselves. My trust in me was shattered Before I realized it When false friends were critics Their envy disguised as concern What was there to envy? I was sad, unsatisfied Maybe I couldn't settle For what I was given We were fed like veal calves Ripened for the slaughter How can escape be a sin? Joy is the greatest divine. Welcome to the outside.
