Eyes

Eyes

A Poem by Tabitha M
"

A short poem I wrote half asleep

"
It is said that,
"Eyes are the windows to the soul."
At first, most think it's silly to believe this. But when I look into your eyes,
I don't see your soul,
I see endless cosmos.
Galaxies reside within your iris.
Planets slowly orbiting,
Stars flickering like fireflies,
Hypnotic at best,
The way the colors manifest,
As if it were a supernova.
Ultimately detonating with every blink.
It's electric.
Your pupils, a black hole,
Pulling me to you with a glance.
The way the inside of your eyes look like
torn threads,
Meteors, cascade through this labyrinth.
Leaving iridescent shrapnel.
It's incredible,
This universe that lies beneath your eyes
Embodies something more than we seem to realize,
An unspoken truth,
Unseen beauty.
So yes, I believe that your eyes are a telescope,
To what I believe is your soul.
And I'll be the extraterrestrial voyager,
Passing through.
