Depths Of Love

Depths Of Love

A Poem by Tarry Franck

Like the wind beneath my wings
You lift my spirit so high
You can't even imagine
How that makes me feel
I feel like I can go to the depths
Of the sea
Climb the height of the sky,
You make me feel
Like my life is precious
Like a gem
That you have polished and sealed,
A thrill I've never felt before
And it feels so good
Thankful for you
I am very sure.

I'm sorry I couldn't get past the first verse. Unfortunatelly it is a very famous song! I don't think the song was your inspiration, but that verse is just too unique for you not to have thought about it. I do use songs as source of inspiration myself! Two of my pieces were influenced by songs: Fog - Moon over Bourbon Street by Sting. Free - I've got to be free by Queen. Yet unles I told you you would not pick it up! I guess wat I am saying is that sometimes, you find that someone else has written exactly what you want to say elsewhere. Take it in, sleep on it, and then let the uses transform it into something totally yours. Poems are too short. First impressions make them or break them.

Thanks Valerie - didn't even realize it until it was pointed out.
This is a lovely poem of appreciation. The person that it is penned for should be proud and honored by your words.

I like the positive feel in your words. Love should make us content and reach-out to express joy and happiness. Thank you for the excellent poetry.

I'm glad you do Blue :)
I am drawn in and yet put off by the first line because it repeats a line of a song...while it is good sometimes it feels cliche.
However, I feel that you did use it rightly after reading a few times. :)

My favorite line is:

"You make me feel
Like my life is precious"

Love does give us that validation of our own worth. It is perhaps why we so desperately need and want love - to have the validation that we are worth loving.

I think the last two lines could be elaborated a bit more...they don't give me the satisfied feel I like to have at the end of a love poem.

Overall it is a lovely poem :)

Love can most definitely take us to the height of the sky and the depth of the sea. Perfectly captured feelings!
