The Unknown

The Unknown

A Poem by Syed Amaan Ahmad
"

Some soul....lures a man and then he dies...

"
The death of wondrous morn,
Unknown inevitable hour--- The death!
The monarchs vanished--- Man's mortality!
Beyond meads, across the fortress,
Translucent gown, her childlike virtuousness,
And soul's profound, enigmatic reverence,
Eccentric swiftness, and her meaningful turn,
Pair of radiant eyes gleaming,
Mist awe-inspiring vision, yet lucid;
Track her thru oblivious steppe,
Furtively luring deep into citadel....
Inside the deepest chambers within,
The unknown trepidation slashing mettle,
Yet follow thru obsolete path,
Deeper inside the unknown chamber,
Obnoxious, eerie feeling every moment,
Watch her feet, figure fade;
Fades thru the ancient ruins,
Beyond the unknown last chamber....
And I meet... the unknown inevitable hour…!
