My Forgotten Love

My Forgotten Love

A Poem by H.Baak
"

This is the story of a man who underwent a loss in Love, only to see her driven into the arms of another. He expresses his true love for her but knows that he can never be with her, and must find joy.

"

Oh, that I may live another day,

Of one whose name was not held in shame.

The toil, the rubble, of the world gone by,

has shifted through the forgotten time…

The rose of the youth that showed her colors,

Has brought to me a world of trouble.

She said her love was strong and true,

Then I realized she was only speaking to you.

I was never her muse, never her delight,

She saw me only as the devil’s plight

Though my heart burned for her affection,

Only in death shall something be resurrected

In time our paths shall meet,

And though our interaction of the word be bittersweet,

I shall smile, and hold back a tear,

For you, oh love, are my darling dear..

And now, I must fall away

From your warm smile that led me astray

In this death of my one true rose,

I will forever sleep in deaths enclosed…
