Daymares

Daymares

A Poem by Tinasha LaRayé
"

I had a bad dream about a loved one. That gut wrenching, body jolting feeling woke me up this morning

"
Mind racing --- caught
Tears jerking --- fought
Images flashing --- lost
Body wrenching --- toss
Love in color --- pain
In the brain
When eyes close I see it again
Familiar buildings --- school
Hallways classrooms --- doom
Family loved ones --- boom
And they are gone
In the twinkling of an eye
Where tears fall
Where years stall and expire
I retire to reality
In a violent sort of jolt
Heart beats --- confused
Emotions cave --- abused
Time ticks --- reverse
Dreams, nightmare --- curse
Wide awake
Can't wake up
Stuck counting ducks...
Or birds ---
Whatever
They fly in black and white
Care, sun-dried
Blood, tie-dyed
Is she gone,
Really?
Is she?
Or soon to be?
