our hill

our hill

A Poem by Tinasha LaRayé
"

a life journey...meant more than I realized

"

The hill

Green and newborn

Blades of grass conversing

Full of cheer

And purpose

Upright

Yet swaying in the breeze

The same hill we walk

On springy summer days

Warm & stubborn rays

Days that don't dare skip sunshine

Or smiles

Beads of sweat roll down faces of discovery

And enjoyment

And existence with our hill

Shoeless

And tickled by dandelions

Stickers stayed away these days

Tumbled downhill and there they lay

We kiss and roll and miss the day going

Gone

Nightfall

And we search for the moon in eyes of contentment

Yes, compliment

Fingers twirl

Palms collide

Skipping, singing, running down the hill

into tomorrow

Now

Here on this hill

With swaying blades of not so green

And eyes of searching

The still-stuck dandelions for my joy

Sitting in the imprints

Of our body's yesterday - cold

I reach down to remove my shoe

To search for you

And find a sticker in my sole

My soul

Is empty

And the hill is vast

And the ache it lasts

And the thought will never pass:

This hill was made for two

I can't make it a day without you
