Final Analysis

Final Analysis

A Poem by Choosing Life

Exclusionary details

Omitted for your protection

My eyes through love

Filtered out the warning signs

Beyond your actions…

Over your cruel analysis of me

I loved...

Extended my perception

So that I could stretch over your faults

And I swallowed the bile

Of your hinted disgust in me

While you flinched at my love

Refusing to be built up

Hiding in a room and bottle

You quit at life

And despised me for making you want more

Easier for you to die

Easier for you to hide

Than for you to need me

Your mental conclusions came

Because you were afraid to face the pain

And move on to freedom

You hated the way you came to need me

You turned on me

So that you wouldn’t have to believe in yourself

And even now my love remains

More than a feeling

More than the words you were afraid to hear or believe

My love was and is solid

Unshakeable

Your selfish actions didn’t kill it
my prayers cover us both

As I take inventory of what was

And was not

No longer looking through love

I see the reality

And thank you for hating yourself enough

To set me free

Ooof! What a gut-wrenching poem to read, and undoubtedly all the more so to write.

So many brilliant lines...

"Hiding in a room and bottle

You quit at life

And despised me for making you want more..."

"... thank you for hating yourself enough

To set me free."

Those closing lines are so haunting...

Interesting ending, and a goodly fitting title for this piece. Everything boils down to the final analysis; all these details and memories are a painful road that must be treaded in order to finally move on. Everything felt was true, and even if the love was deplorably one-sided it was still real. All's real in love-goggles. But, in the end, the shades must fall. A splendid read.
