How Long Will It Be?

How Long Will It Be?

A Poem by turtlegirlluver
"

A poem about what my grandma is going through--

"

 Fifty years of marriage

A lifetime together

The last few years

you have been overpowered by a disease

You don't remember things like you use to

But one morning you wake up

and don't know who your spouse is

He tries his best to settle you down,

but to you he is only a stranger

A little later you calm down,

and go on as normal

You still forget, but only the recent things

I wish there was a cure

to save you and the others from facing such end

by losing your memories

If only you could happy and youthful once again

It isn't your fault,

but I wish there was something we could do

All we can do is to love you

and help you remember

Grandma?

If this is the beginning of the end

I have to wonder;

How long will it be

until you don't even recognize me?

Very touching; I love it.
An amazing creation for your grandmother.

Hello,
This is a vivid account of the attack on your grandmother's mind....i.e. the devastation of Alzheimer's Disease.
We really don't know how and when it will progress, as each case is different, but as you so poignantly ask...."How long will it be?"
Very touching!
Sheila
