I understand now

I understand now

A Poem by Vidya Bacchus
"

i wanted to say thank you to someone who deserved it,It may not be very good but i meant the words.

"

   I understand now

It used to be i depended on you and challenged your authority,

Now the shoe is on the other foot it is'nt soo easy,

To be in the driver's seat navigating turns,

To pull them out of the fire and tend to their burns.

I was sure you had it in for me,

That you were chaining me to you when i wanted to be free,

But now the decisions are hard and the penalties steep,

That I find mysef awake at night unable to sleep.

Being a mother is mostly a gift,

It brings you such joy and your heart it does lift,

Until they're screaming at you how you've done them wrong,

And you remember yourself singing that same tired song.

From time after time it seems to be the same,

We have no other choice than to bow to your name,

For we could never owe so much to another,

Than one who goes by the blessed name "MOTHER"

Awww thank you and your mother Ssadd this meant a lot :)
This is a very heartfelt piece - and I am not sure that you are directing to the children whom you feel you have done wrong by, or to the mother whom you felt did wrong by you - nevertheless, it has a strong emotional content to it - and it does not border on a strong cliche - which a piece like this could. It also has an excellent sense of form and rhyme

Truer words were never spoken my dear Judy:)
Yet another lovely poem, more truths expressed in an accessible and honest manner. It's always a pleasure to read your work, be able to identify with the ideas, and take something useful from your words.

Again thank you daniel i think sometimes simplicity is the best way to go .
What a wonderful thing it is to let your thoughts and feelings for a person close to you known through a poem. Many of us yell at our parents for this and the other, and we hardly ever stop to thank them for all the good they've actually done, most importantly just for having loved us. I can only begin to imagine how ridiculously tough being a parent must be at times.. Lovely :)
