Awake

Awake

A Poem by Aries

When you can't sleep
Do you watch the third hand creep?
like bedbugs around the clock's countenance
 second-hand clouds clinging
to your old bedsheets and our prayers' consonance
 I guess you knew firsthand
while singing of grapevine fires
 greyhound stations and whispering promises
that I should have known
that your forever always expires
