Love or Die

Love or Die

A Poem by Xavier Honre
"

This is about someone I've liked for a long time.

"

I love you in vain
And I want to let it out.
"I have feelings for you!"
Is what I want to shout.

But I'm scared of the pain
That I know will follow.
I'm already alone,
I don't need to feel hollow.

You're beautiful and perfect,
In all ways but two:
You can't see my pain,
And you're not always you.

I think you're afraid
Of showing yourself,
So you put on a mask
And set the truth on a shelf.

I won't judge you
Or push you away,
And if you desire,
I'm here to stay.

But you can't see me
Behind your fake mask,
Something I will change,
This is my task.

For I am tired of hiding
And shielding my love.
I must set it free
And let it fly like a dove.

So I will unveil myself
To your unknowing eyes
And you shall decide
Whether I love or die.

Wow. I cannot express how well this poem flows. Simply...wow. My favorite part was this:

You're beautiful and perfect,
In all ways but two:
You can't see my pain,
And you're not always you.

You've got real talent, which is not something I normally say to people.

Let me know how the poem ends.
