I found this site in which people register free and can scan for local meet up groups in their area of interest. They have all kinds of meet ups including Writers Meet Up.



I think it's a good idea to meet up with groups of people interested in your writing topics or genre. That was my initial intention when I joined them, to meet readers. Here is a link to my meet up profile:



If you want to form a Meet Up Group on the site you have to pay but I think it will be worthwhile to explore the possibility if you have the time to organize a local group.
