Down the winding road packed high with snow there is a house. Made of red, rusted brick with green trimming. Diamonds fall from the sky onto sparkling ice water.

The windows are coated in a light sheet of frost, sweet to the eye like powdered sugar is to the tongue.

What I remember most was how much light would seep in. Creeping into hidden passageways and dust infested corners. No matter what storm had blown through us the night before, my family would wake up the next morning embraced in beautiful rays of light, eating up the darkness and leftover loneliness that would trail behind after family arguments and misunderstandings. We were a happy family once.

The beauty of the house almost makes me forget the tragedy here. The pain I felt leaving this place was equal to...That night. Everything changed. Why must the flames turn to ashes, the morning into night; why does happiness never last and why does my heart feel it does as i find myself drawn towards the windowpane.
