I welcome you all into this group of "Hot Golden Writings". Our main and primary aim of this group will be promoting young, energetic and aspiring writers who dream to make it real big in the writing field. So feel free to deposit your works in this forum~!

I'm going to try this again. I've been too long in getting here and for that I apologize. I promise to do better from here on out.

I guess I should introduce myself. I've been a voracious reader as long as I remember. By the time, I was 12 I was reading tons of poetry. So much, that I memorized dozens and dozens. I can still recite many of them. In my teen years I wrote really bad poetry only worthy of starting fires.

Once upon a time, I graduated from the University of Kentucky with an English degree. I worked for a quirky old English professor, typesetting, proofreading and making forays into the dusty old sections of the library.

For years, I quoted snatches of Dickinson and Frost and Longfellow. A friend used to ask where my words were. About a year ago, I found my own words.

I look forward to an active and helpful group. If I can be of any help, just let me know.

I should say that I come to this group with a little different mind-set than I do for other venues at The Cafe.  I'm bringing my stern English teacher's perspective (I was, back in the day of ditto fluid and eight-millimeter projectors, an unsuccessful high school teacher) to this particular group.  It's my understanding that most of the members here are younger writers looking to improve their work, so I may be a bit more pointed in my reviewing here than I might be in other places.   Rest assured that I will never review your work by saying "This piece is reminiscent of camel manure on a warm day in Kabul.  You need to close your account now and ritually disembowel yourself."  That's not criticism--that's bomb-throwing.  However, I'm not planning on being your BFF, so don't expect me to gush and throw rose petals in your path, either.  If I like something, I'll try to explain why I like it.  If I don't like something, I'll try to explain that as well, and try to suggest a way that it might be fixed.
