I knew this lady, Sylvia, who was found dead in her house by her niece.  She died alone.  She had been married and divorced; never had children.  She expressed pride that she had paid for her house in full and managed her money wisely.  Often, she invited friends to go watch a game of football with her; she always had season tickets to the games.
