How to Give Helpful Feedback - Your Writing Tips

Inspired from the SpillingInk Website.

Step 1.
Ask yourself these questions:

. What did I like best about the story?
. What grabbed my attention?
. Which characters did I want to know more about?
. Were there any times when your mind wandered off? Why and which part?
. Was there anything in the story you didn't understand or didn't make sense?

Or, you can ask those questions of the author for her to answer.

Below, post your writing tips and ideas.

For me, the most important thing when reviewing is to stay positive and friendly. Posting your writing makes you vulnerable and it is very easy to hurt someones feelings if you're rude. That doesn't mean you can't say negative things, but keep them constructive and friendly. I also always try to start with the positive things, and try to compliment the writer. But don't compliment just for the sake of starting positively, you have to really mean it, otherwise they'll know instantly. Just find something you liked about the story, and compliment that.
