I am reading the Hofmann translation which is rather amusing. He uses are great many Cockney expressions, presumably to convey the grittiness and informality of the lower classes in Berlin during the interwar period in Germany. I do recommend it. It flows somewhat like Joyce but with Teutonic gusto.
