Reward

Well, seeing as I couldn't find any publishers willing to accept novellas of the type and genre that I was hoping to have completed, I've opted to post the entirety of "Motor City Shambler", Bob the Zombie's exploits, here in the Cafe and specifically in this group. Sure, I won't make money this way, but sometimes, just telling the story and having it read and appreciated is reward enough.

I may yet try to have it published as an entire novella, in which case I'll remove it from the Cafe. But for now, give it a read, enjoy, and let me know what you think about good ol' Bob.

Have you thought about going the self publishing route? I know a lot of people aren't too fond of Lulu.com but if you're exhausted your search for a publisher then you could go that route. Atleast you'd have it in book format and could try and sell it and make some money off of it.

As you may have noticed, I've removed most of the Motor City Shambler segments from the Cafe.  I've done this because I am going to be having it made into a full feature-length novella, as I had planned.  I'll be doing the Lulu, as many have mentioned/suggested to me.  Hey, even if some folks don't like it, it's a hundred times better than PublishAmerica at least.  Look for it to be completely available sometime around the second or third week of October, just in time for Halloween!

Have you considered Jaded Silence press???? I have no idea if Pauline is open to doing Novellas, but it's worth sending a message before you go the self publishing route. Magazines used to serialize some stories, but that idea may be outdated and impractical as well. The thing is, you don't know until you try it and we know several editors of magazines here on the WC. Even if they aren't open to it, and there could be hundreds of reasons why they might not, exhaust the possibilities. Maybe collaborate with other serializations that have been posted to form a book like "Four Past Midnight" or "the Bachman Books"? It's a long shot, but so is everything else in the publishing world. You have enough stuff in your resume to put together your own anthology too. I have no idea if any of this would be feasible, but I loved "The Motor City Shamble" and would like to see your writing on a book shelf someday.

Yes, Jaded Silence Press will be accepting novellas as well. If you have more than one novella, we can put them all into one book for you. We plan on doing that with four of Kody Boye's novellas that he will be sending us. :) So feel free to submit something to us. Hehehe. We have a group here on the WC, just find us.
