First Poem- Old Glory

Hello everyone! I am new here and this is my first poem. Any feedback is appreciated. :)

Knocking at my head
are the wardens of doubt

And when the pounding becomes the
new silence I
step down the yellow-lit stairs
toward the DVD set ‘neath
Dad’s stars and stripes

There is no beginning no
end the instructor’s face shines like
Lauren Beukes’ girls I only
feel the swell and dip of pain like
ocean waves I only hear
his voice screaming I slowly
untangle
inside I am
I am free

Nausea grips my chest
Coffee rises in my throat
I watch my hand shake like its demanding more than a door handle can give
I watch my hand
I smile
I walk upstairs
