The New Psalmist Forum Do You consider yourself a Psa..

I feel sometimes that the stuff I write are like modern day Psalms. Like David, I praise the Lord in my poems which I call prayer poetry.

Do I consider myself a psalmist? No, but I can write psalms. Like you said in your post, they are like prayer poems. If you feel better after writing them and others feel better after reading / hearing them, then it was a good one. As you can see from the one I submitted to the group, like David of old, I praise, praise, complain. Net result is God must be praised and glorified through the writing or it's just poetry and not a psalm.
