Challenge #9

Well, gang, I'm playing secretary for Mr. D today. He's asked that I post the next challenge. He wanted one with a Christmas/holiday theme in hopes that it would encourage you to enter the Cafe's Holiday Contest (deadline Dec. 20).

The challenge - write about the perfect gift... either to you or from you. What would it be? Anything from that must-have pair of shoes to World Peace.

Ladies and Gentlemen, start your keyboards!

Lol. Nihad is so silly. I don't want to pat your pack, Belle, because to me that just sounds a little funky. But, I'll pat you on the back. *Pats on back.*

Here's my poem!
A Soldier's Wish for Christmas

Christina - I just read your poem a few minutes ago, the whole time thinking, "Is this for the Versenators challenge? Surely not... No, wait... This is Christina we're talking about."

Lo and behold...

Amy - hi! Welcome to the Versenators. On a GOOD week, Nihad posts a new challenge on Fridays. There's no set deadline, but we try to get the challenge answered before a new one shows up.

Hope this helps. Oh, yeah, there is a code for a group button on another thread here (it might be on page 2 or so). Just copy and paste it to the end of your challenges if you'd like.

Lonely single living in a studio apartment,
my Santa Clause mocked in superstition,
what is it I really want, really need?

Thought of the red head beauty with hazel eyes.
How I could have her with one wish.
But rest assure, Ive encountered better love,
more complicated orgasms with a book by Tom Robbins.
What would I do with a redheaded insurance person?

Love crumbled around and my thoughts turned green.
Money out my pockets, socks full of green and white.
Anything I wanted, at the prices I could afford.
A new business suit, a new business personality.
With a lonely life as mine, my bank account I never unfold,
check the receipts and Im aware, Im rich as a pot of gold.

Love and Money. Wishes greater do not exist.
A note full of scribble; I was sure not to scrabble.
Stocking stuffers, lights for my window, a Christmas tree,
ribbons and bows, snow shoes, nutmeg and music,
the list shot straight to the North Pole.
Each one denied by a snicker from the Clause.

Funny as it was to deny me my wishes, deny me my faith.
I set a trap that forthcoming Christmas and caught clause,
climbing down the elevator shaft to my studio apartment room.
The trip wire, into the cage, a list of demands.
Scared as a mouse, silent as a mocking bird, he stuttered,
Anything you wish.

So, with my superiority in the cerebrum of my brain,
I fed him carrots and red beets till his face turned red.
Invited the reindeer to nutmeg, cookies and milk.
Dances and karaoke as they sailed their way home,
Rudolph driving with the red-faced Santa leading the night.

In the gloom and music alone in my studio apartment,
my wish was received, for one night of the year.
Me and Mrs. Clause as drunk as 80 proof vodka,
we made love under a snow roof.
And as it twas, twas the season to be jolly.
At exactly midnight of Christmas day,
you could hear the bells singing, the lights flickering,
the mouses stirring, the Christmas tree shaking,
and in the back round me moaning, Ho! Ho! Ho!
