When The Visuals Are No Longer..
When The Visuals Are No Longer Yours . . .18 Years AgoA question for my fellow group members and buddies . . .
What do you think of New Media Storytelling? The need for the visuals when the digital medium is utilized rather than the conjuring of visuals through the written word? Do you think the reader gets robbed of an experience or granted something more? My profile features a poem that I made a long time ago with flash and collage: June, July & August . . . I wonder if I shouldn't have just left it alone . . . or I wonder if it stinks without the visuals. In studying "Digital Storytelling" - I've always been fascinated with digital poetry, but it's definitely its own genre (of sorts). Visuals are so vital (and don't get me wrong I love visuals . . . ) and the medium requires the artist to be a master of a whole new craft . . . amazing thing - change . . . (I would've stuck the whole little box with the link to my piece in here like Alex did, but I have no idea how in the hell he did that . . . ) :) |

[no subject]18 Years AgoFirst, I love that poem as art. Second, yes the art does distract from the words. But that doesn't make it less of a beautiful work, maybe just less of a poem and more of a "mixed-media"?
The reason we (humans) are demanding so much visual stimulus, in my opinion, short attention spans. so today is mothers day I should send her some flowers.... my coffee is getting cold... that laundry.... wait, what was i saying? oh yeah, short attention spans... absolutely |

[no subject]18 Years Agohe he . . . I know my attention span has shrunk. I feel stretched in a million different directions constantly - so many choices, so many decisions, so much menial crap to do to simply survive in some "healthy" manner . . . I wonder what's going on with our shrunken attention spans - if it's something evolutional or just some mass media over-stimulus syndrome. I wonder if it's not evolutional because we keep growing as a populace - maybe it's a more appropriate mechanism of survival in an overpopulated world . . . or maybe we're all just having our minds fried young . . . and part of our "evolution" is self-destruction . . .
It's been a long day . . . Mother's Day has sucked for the most part. Some poems aren't meant to be discovered - ever. Good night, y'all . . . |
