The Writer's Life Forum Rejection collection, an on-go..

Well, My goal this year is to collect 40 rejections. I don't have all that many things written right now, so I feel that's a fairly high number of rejections for me to aim for. It has the added effect of challenging me to write more articles/short-stories. ^-^ After all, I'll never get my number up on only a handfull of written projects!!

So far, I've managed to get one rejection in. One story has been out a couple of weeks, and two more are going out tomorrow, so it'll be a while before I hear anything at all back on any of them. Which means, I really need to get to writing something a little more meaningful than this thread!

My target will have to be considerably lower.  Writing novels, with one just started, two half finished, and another almost (hmm... maybe) complete, can't see I'll have anything ready to submit before July.  Why is it so much easier to start a novel than it is to finish it??? I shall wave a hand in the air and stab at fifteen rejections.

I have two books that came out as short stories that I'm currently working into full length novels. I almost have enough of one of them finished to submit it to a publisher. The other one... well, I have some more work to do on that one.

Aside from that, I'm also working on two non-fiction articles.

I'm a bit busy lately.

 

Well, seeing as I already have a great start at 6 in the past week, I think I shall be the brave one and up the bid of my dear friend Tiffany by 5. I pledge 45 rejections this year.

Well, so far I have three stories out. I've FINALLY managed to go over the first forty pages of Raiders of Vampyra, actually added in a good bit and bumped up my word count. ^-^ Now I just have to write the dreaded synopsis!

Meanwhile, I have another book that I had also had hopes of sending in to the same publisher, two articles to finish, and several to come up with. I have a HUGE 'to do' list and the dang thing is growing! Now a a friend of mine wants me to edit some photos for him because he's planning on starting up a magazine. (It'll probably do well. He has all the major things in it. Half-naked girls and cool cars. What else could you ask for in a guy mag, really?)

So far it all sounds really promising. He already has over 250 stores that are interested in carrying the magazines, throughout south GA/north FL. Already has a deal with all three major car show organizations to photograph thier shows. Been doing his foot work but I'm thinking he'll need something in there other than pictures and ads. I plan on talking to him about that later on. Maybe see about getting some stories and articles in there....

I got a reply from the magazine submission I did yeasterday. Not a rejection, but more of a yeah, we'll get to it when we can type thing. Kepp y'all's fingers crossed.

Im still doing the third rewrite on the Darke. With the help of my good friend it really starting to come around and take shape. I thought it was a good story beforebut now it just seems like so much better of a flow.

I have more submissions to make tomorrow and Im trying to work on the next installment for Fallen.

God, I need some sleep.

Well, I took the plunge! I sent Raiders of Vampyra off to the romance editor of Tor. Hopefully I'll hear something possitive back from her! In the mean time, I guess I really need to get to work actually finishing up the book. =^-^=

Heh, and out goes another story idea. ^-^ Might not work for the rest of you, but collection rejections works marvels for me. After all, it gives me more than one goal to aim for!

I've sent out two submissions this week. I still haven't finished that damned article I need to finish up. Got the choker complete, now its just clear instructions I have to make up and I can get that right out.

Meanwhile, Bolero now marches through my head day and night, but for some reason I feel more inspired to write with it going in the background....

Another rejection on Shh! I swear, I've about decided this is just a bad story....

Just submitted my first, a short story to an on-line horror mag... well they all count... I hope

Of course online magazines count!

I'm up to four rejections this year, nine submissions still out, and about 10 that I haven't written submission letters for. I'm going to have to get my submission numbers up or I'll never meet my goal!
