I Don't Care How Long It Takes to Prove Myself As A Writer.... But

I love to write!! It doesn't matter whether my work is published or not. That is something that will never change. I think the thing that bothers me now, is the fact that I'm not sure whether I have  the talent it takes to become a full fledged author. I have so many agent rejection letters, I could use it for wallpaper.  You get to the point where you start to believe that the agents are right.  I should just hang it up and move on.   In any event, it's nice to know there are others that feel as I do.  Looking forward to getting to know everyone.  Thanks for listening to me vent.   Jane

Hello again.  Never forget how you find joy in your writing.  Maybe you should ask others to go over your work and help you get better (just in case).  Perhaps it's that or all of the publishers just think your work is wrong at the time.  What did you send in and what is it about.  If you want I can help you out every now and then.

You know what I realized one day? Walk into Barnes and Nobles or a library or any bookstore you come across. Stop for a moment and look around and see how many books, stories, authors, etc. exist that no one has ever heard of or read. Many of them may have experienced the same thing that you are going through or perhaps they got published right away--and no one has ever read their works.

What I am trying to say is that if you have an audience right now that appreciates and enjoys your work, then you already ARE an author/writer.  Getting published only means that someone else is making money off of your work. You should ask yourself what reward it is you seem? Is a monetary one or something more personal?

Just a thought! :)

I am twelve, but I already know the only thing that gives me joy in life is writing. I could be rejected by every agent in the world and not give a damn. The only way to reach the top is to buid yourself a ladder, and I find that my ladder is made frome self confidence and writing for myself. When you doubt yourself and your ability you only feed the growing heap of wasted talent.
