Interacial Relationships

I am black and date a white man. Have been with him going on 4 years. We are very happy. What I notice though is that we both, in 2007, get dirty looks from both races whenever we go out about town. I think it is silly to pay so much attention to our skin color and further be up all in my bizness. What do you think about this?

I think its ridiculous for people to feel that way but people still do it. I am half Black and half Puerto Rican; my girlfriend is mixed with Black, White, and Native American. So interracial dating is a great thing to me I wouldnt be here with out it or in love right now basically. I have heard people say we are all Gods children than express those ill feelings towards an interracial couple. Sounds kind of clich but follow your heart they dont know how he treats you and vice-versa and thats the only thing that matters.

I can totally understand what you are talking about I was married to a panamanian/black-cuban (with green eyes, good hair and olive colored skin) and me being black/panamanian/white and puerto rican (but looking black as hell) we would get looks all the time it's the most irritating thing on earth. but hey what can you really do about it. If I could give you any advise at all stay out of Texas!!!! lol people here are so racist they don't even know they are being racist!!!! And they stare and stare it's like they've never seen and interrational person or couple in there lives but they are among some of the friendliest rude people in the world.

But anyway... all I can really say to you is just take it day by day some people just don't know any different and if all else fails you can sue for defimation of character in conjuncting to racial slander!!! lol sorry law student..

In interracial relationships particularly black and white ones. Blacks give off scowls for a totally different reason that whites do. I have to be honest, I see it to two different lights. . On one hand I feel as if it is a slap in the face for black women to date white men. My reason? I feel as if black men are the only ones cast in a negative light amongst not only others outside our race, but by our own women as well. It would be nice for our sisters to back us more ( I know there are still some that do), especially in these times where black men are criticized and stereotyped into being those whom are cheating, non-working, violent, dead-beat fathers that america (black america too) choses to portray in the media. On the other hand I totally overstand that this is new times, 2007, and interracial relationships are on the rise. At the end of the day its all about being happy and in love. However, amongst our people I can't help but to feel a slight piece of betrayl on the Jungle Fever issue on both sides. I have dated spanish women and we wouldnt get any looks until we opened our mouths and people heard a totally different accent from the other so I have felt the slight exclusion from others whom wouldn't approve of such a minion

I know how you feel and it's sad that this day and time you still have to go through it. I remember those stares of why him? Why is she not with a black man? But I say it doesn't matter the color it matters about the quality of that person! Whether he is black white, asain, hispanic, it just should not matter cause at the end of the day LOVE has no color!
