poetry , but how , i need help
poetry , but how , i need help18 Years Agoany one know a good place online where I can look up the rules and regulations of various styles of poetry. I never did pay too close attention to poety in english class, I never did like to write because it was too constricting. But now I am at a loss because I am trying to pirate poetry, or piretry as I would like to call it. I got a notion I would do it today. All part of getting into your character's mind.
So any help would be greatly appreciated |

[no subject]18 Years AgoTry Limericks... they're sorta like this:
Rhyme scheme / Number of syllables: A / nine A / nine B / five B / five A / nine Example: There once was a Pirate from Tucket Who met a ninja and said "f**k it" She was quite brutal Usually cute too So write a story and don't muck it! Ok, so it really wasn't the best, but it's late and you get the idea. Yep, I'm sure English pirates were a great bunch of limerick writers! By the way, I love the term "pietry." I think that just kicks a*s. Have you tried googling "poetic forms?" JR |

[no subject]18 Years AgoI've never followed the rules of old poetry. The way you want it to sound is the way you want to write it. If I want the reader to read it slowly I seperate the words when I want them to read it all together, there are no commas, and so on. I think my method makes my poetry more original. Its not like the philosophers of history had someone telling them how to make a masterpeice. Besides, when poetry gets to formal it sounds like it was written by a third grader.

[no subject]18 Years AgoFor me poetry is about describing the feeling of something rather than just telling it. Which I believe makes poetry in many cases universal and relates to the deeper part of oneself. This is only what I use it for. If I was to do poetry about pirates I would talk about physical privation, blood, adrenaline, the simple joy of living from moment to moment, the gratification of taking what I want when I want it, grasping for bigger and better dreams over the horizon, and the thrill of hunting other men.
