Before we get started…
Hello my fellow writers, readers, and everyone in between! This is the first official post of A Kinda Scary Update. I made this to keep the forums active and give the spotlight to some writers who deserve the recognition. I am always looking for editors and other writers who want a section in this blogazine. And yes, it is a kinda scary update. Not all things on this blogazine will be horror related, although I will make sure to hit a lot of that. If you have someone who you think deserves to be recognized, message me. Make sure to leave a comment and follow me so that I can know how many people are reading and so you can stay up to date with the latest update. It’s a scary world out there. Stay safe. Regards, Dylan Walker.
Featured writer of this issue
Aurora is an artist, both with words and pencil. She has been doing art since she was five and writing since she was twelve. You will usually find her writing poems, but a few short stories have been sprinkled throughout her work along with a novella. Outside of WritersCafe, Aurora is working on her website, POESIA that has a population of 150 writers, 2 artists, and 2 sculptors. They had already launched their first poetic journal in February which turned out a success with 1700 reads in only 2 days. With these accomplishments in mind, most people would be surprised to find out that she is just 17 years of age. Her most current works are He Burns The Mountains and I Forget Me Faster.
What do you think is your best work by far?
My best work is always the one written most recently if anyone asks. I'm more focused on Collab- Poetries at the moment. Our recent poem "The Cold Hunger'' was released on R.J.Calzonetti(Sinister Potato)'s profile. We've been writing together for 3 years and now we have a collaboration profile on WritersCafe. Also on our website POESIA, we've been working on it together for 2 years. I wrote a poem for him "He's Burning mountains' ' which was favorite for lots of people. Now I'm working on a poem with R.J.Calzonetti "Autumn of Humanity" which is private for now. We've decided to write poems to inculcate positivity in humans during this pandemic, so this poem. Also we are bringing original illustrations/ photography for the first time to make the piece more relevant and original.
Who, or what, is an inspiration for you in life right now?Human civilization itself is a whole inspiration for me, it never lost its ethnicity and development goes along with tradition. Old and young live in clusters, not even wars could end this civilization though it gave deep scars and created hatred among people, on the other side my own country is world's largest diversity and democracy, from the beginning of our lives we are taught to accept and tolerate difference, hence maintain great unity and securing a united future.
How have you been affected by quarantine?
Honestly saying quarantine doesn't affect me more than the news of deaths. I've always been a homesick person, as a kid I didn't like mixing up with kids rather I liked to have people around me who are older. Most of my closest friends are in their 70-80s. So this is what I'm doing during quarantine: preparing to increase my creativity, learning new things, reading books and doing exercises... I do a lot more but these are the most important ones.
What is one interesting thing about you?
I know five different languages because of my mixed cultured family. English, Hindi and 3 other state languages but I'm completely literate in only Hindi and English.
Are there any quotes that have inspired you in life?
There are more inspiring quotes but right now I can tell "Be the change you want." I've always been this way. It's a simple quote but splendid as a sword and a truth for the whole civilization and all generations. Another "Smile is the universal language of kindness" I don't fully believe in this... In a way this makes sense that only people who are light hearted and smile a lot are kind. That's not true, people with great pains in heart are kind too, those who are actually happy, either they are proud of their wealth or addicted to peace. Kind people are not happy, their smiles hide thousands of tears, I say this strongly because only a hurt heart can be soft and it can easily feel the aches of others rather than judging their situation.
And now…
Yup. That’s about it. Like I said, I need writers to write different sections of this blogazine. I mean, I know I am great and all, but this is about community. I don’t want just my voice, I want the voice of the whole WritersCafe community. We have a lot of great ideas, but due to this site's structure, It’s hard to get them out there. I am pretty sure they haven’t updated the site since the medieval ages. Anyway, I need writers. I need you. If you gotta voice, it deserves to be heard. Message me! Even if you have never written a blog, give it a try. I got some stories to work on, so on that note, goodbye for now.
