Ruth Ann's Story (3/13/24)

Here are some thoughts/reactions I had to Ruth Ann's story this week.

- loved the opening idea of "starfucking" family.
- especially liked the personal turn about the life and work you do and how it becomes a competition for attention, and feeling hurt that your life is not as glamorous as your siblings and the more ephemeral things that seem to get her attention
- really liked when it then turned to your own life, the life you were buiding on your own, proposing to your husband and builing your own life, separate from her and them.
- think you could lean into this.  this contrast between craving her attention and not needing it anymore... and so she comes to you looking for her own attention... or gives you attention that you didnt expect (when you had kids).
- like that also as a possible arc/conclusion - going from invisible to visible, unappreciateed to appreciated, or personally speaking from relying on the approval/attention of others to not needing it, and it coming to you?
