Alice in Not So Wonderfully Mad Times

Alice in Not So Wonderfully Mad Times

A Poem by {K}

Team Renfield Prompt

"
Alice was complete and utterly,
confused by life and economy,
she wished and longed for the child,
she once used to be.
Alice was troubled by adulthood,
her father simply stated, "You should."
Alice wished and longed for madness,
and even for the be-heading highness.
She missed the Cheshire-puss's grin,
and all the crazy whim,
Alice wished and longed
for
the dream she had once dreamed.

The dreams of youth will fade away and leave us with emptiness. A wise Poet name Neruda stated when we lose the hope of youth. Don't see the good in the day. We are dead. Better to hold on to the dreams and laughter of youth. I like the story and the ending to this outstanding poem.

There is something that rings so sadly true here. Very well done. Renfieldians unite!
