As the day begins

As the day begins

A Poem by Vasudha Jhingan

As the day begins ,
I wander into the green grounds
Midst the mist, midst the trees
Away from the global populace .

I strive to find my inner self
With Mother Nature surrounding me .
The dewdrops on leaves so fresh ,
The smell of Earth cheering my soul .

I feel if I may go on ,
I may find the truer me .

And as I wander into the woods , deeper
My senses tell me I am in danger.
The growls echo thrusting me into oblivion
I think I am lost , spiritually.

I wake up in my bed of dusted leaves
And see the blooded wounds on me .
Yes, I was attacked by a mammal
And was somehow saved by God's grace.

Death will come and will never go
And I must embrace it when it shall come .
For I have realised the true mantra -
The knowledge of " Carpe Diem "

And I am sure I found myself
In those woods between the mist and trees ,
For losing myself , I have found the real me .

I really like your writing style and deep thinking. 'Death will come and will never go' is one statement in this piece that truly moves me. Thank you for stating it aloud. If we all realized this, we would live differently. I have one suggestion, but let it be only a 'bug in your ear', as I don't know if it can be done. I feel like your poem is important and powerful, and could be more so, if some excess was cut away(?), that your amazing words would be that more profound in concentrated form. Maybe you have understanding about this, once the suggestion is made and you look again. Amazing piece! (I seldom use the word 'amazing'. I reserve it for times like these) Go far, writer, go far :) I.I.

Well conceived and expressed. Good use of literary devices like alliteration. Unbelievable for your age
