Poisoned

Poisoned

A Poem by Maddy
"

Finally back to writing. I have been in poor health. I hope I can still write.

"
Poison runs through my veins
Caused by an evil taint

Words as cold as steel
No one cares how it feels

As they take away my voice
They do not realize this is not a choice

Falling and fearing
A terrible fate is nearing

No one cares
They all push me deeper into this nightmare

A fragile soul
Thoughts black as coal

Take me away
So I can again see the light of day

This road leads to darkness
I am poisoned and learning of weakness

Kill me with your words
And know that it was the last thing I heard

This poem is very sad, but I love the concept. It has a great message. I love the rhyming and rhythm alot!

I find that if you are going for a rhyming scheme in a poem, it typically turns out in a more pleasing way to read/hear if there is a rhythm it follows. It is difficult to do in two line stanzas while supporting a rhyming scheme, but it is well worth it. As it is now, it doesn't really flow easily, but this can be fixed. I do enjoy the topic though, it is very remorseful and painful.
