Bewildered

Bewildered

A Poem by Ron
"

Modern life as seen from a resident of a home for the elders!

"

“Bewilderment! Bewilderment!  I'm in such bewilderment!

Which toothpaste do I use today ? Colgate or my Steredent?

Bewilderment!  Bewilderment!  Suffering bewilderment!

Why do those (free of the sin,) take dose one of heroin?

And children spurn their schooling free, obsess with vile celebrity?

Bewilderment!  Bewilderment!  Fretting with bewilderment.

Isn’t it a mortal sin to fight in wars you cannot win?

Bewilderment!  Bewilderment!  Save me from bewilderment.

Why, in religions name, are babes in arms killed and maimed?

Brave boys and girls sent over seas meet death for serving charity?

Bewilderment!  Bewilderment!  Bewilderment!  Bewilderment!

The  parish church, stony strong, where has the congregation gone?

Bewilderment! Bewilderment! Godless in bewilderment!

Be a Pagan, if you like, yet ten commandments?  Just and right!

Some worship another creed, revelling in pornography.

Bewilderment!  Bewilderment !  God save me this bewilderment.

Bankers saved by public tax, while thousands honest lives collapse.

Bewilderment!  Bewilderment!  Haunting me bewilderment.

Women think ing (hand in glove) that giving sex will win mans love?

Men still believe it’s ‘masculine’ to lie and cheat the ‘feminine‘!

Bewilderment!  Bewilderment!  Spare me this bewilderment.

Without female we would not be free, from the Nazi tyranny!

Bewilderment!  Bewilderment!  Never ends bewilderment.

How are the idle youth round here, unemployed, yet drinking beer?

Hooded youths make their sport by scareing folk with vile retort?

Bewilderment!  Bewilderment!  Never ends bewilderment.

American dead at Anzio did not die for this you know.

Bewilderment!  Bewilderment!  Bewilderment!  Bewilderment!

Dead Tommies at El Alemein turn in graves, again, again.

Good men died in wars so cruel,  still vile dictators kill and rule!

Bewilderment!  Bewilderment!  My future is bewilderment.

My son has moved away to Frome.  Six miles from this nursing home.

Bewilderment!  Bewilderment!  Help me from bewilderment!

Son, grandchildren are my dears.  Haven’t called these past two years.

Perhaps he’s busy.  Yes, that’s right!   I’m getting very scared at night! "

An incredible piece of writing that obviously springs from the heart. Your emotions about the present and past are obviously very strong. As you very rightly say, the battles in the past haven't brought peace, killing still goes on, people's lives are turned upside down by modern life.. and so on ..

I agree with everything you write, with your bewilderment and, could write so much more about my opinions but, it's your writing that counts and, it counts trillions, Ron. You see and feel the world in an exceptional way. More people should read this, if only to be reminded how society, civilisation, has deteriorated.

That last stanza is so sad: so many families live separate lives these days. Seems family values and ethics have been ripped apart. Perhaps if we worked on those more, the world might be at least a slightly better place.

Thank you so much for sharing this very fine piece of writing.

OK !!! you put so much in it , and yes you did a beautiful work, I loved all of it but specialy :

Bewilderment, bewilderment never ends bewilderment!
American dead at Anzio did not die for this you know!
Bewilderment, bewilderment, bewilderment, bewilderment!
Dead Tommies at El Alemein, turn in graves again, again!
Good men died in wars so cruel; still vile dictators kill and rule!

Thats lovely say against the stupid wars !

Bewilderment, bewilderment. My future is bewilderment!
My son has moved away to Frome six miles from this nursing home.
Bewilderment, bewilderment help me from bewilderment!
Son, grandchildren are my dears. Haven't called these past two years.
Perhaps he's busy, yes that's right! I'm getting very scared at night! "

Sad ending, I know that feeling from so close, wish you will see the Kids and son very soon, Yossi
