Contemplating Tanzania

Contemplating Tanzania

A Poem by Ron
"

Anglo Saxon contemplates an African Country.

"
Contemplating Tanzania!
Tietzie Fly?  No real beer?

Are there plains, long and wide?
Tell me, is there genocide?

Are there tigers, apes and snakes?
What's on tele?  Is there cake?

Are tribal folk bright and breezie?
Was it President Nyerere?

If my questions don't sound right,
Forgive this English stereotype.

Quelle surprise! An honest poem always has qualities that connect with a reader, and this has no colonial Kipling as laureate. No reductive Raj here but an Englishman's honest questions. I like it.

I think you ask better and more inteligent questions than I would. The line "Are there tigers, apes and snakes?" made me think of a Jethro Tull song "Are there elephants, lions, too, in Picadilly Circus?"
