The Stars

The Stars

A Poem by 40X70N

Many, Many moons ago, I was told by my beloved Mother that I would be

able to reach the stars one day.

I grasped and held onto those words my Mother told me.

There, forever she lay under the ground, never to be seen again.

Even years now, those words haunt me.

I never forget what she said to me.

Then, slowly like a counting of an hour,

I slowly realize that never in my years of living in this world-

Have I ever saw that promise fulfilled, not even once.

But, still I held onto those words by my beloved Mother

Hoping, that one day, one day, I may reach out the stars and meet my Mother waiting for me.

But at last in my numbered days, as I write this, I never reached the stars.

Still, I have hope

That one day, another child will take my place

As that hopeful child that held on to their dreams.

Forever dreaming, forever regretting.
