Buried On A Tuesday

Buried On A Tuesday

A Poem by Edwina
"

Mourning

"
An empty little body
In a tear filled room
So very deep with sorrow
And a bitter summer's gloom

Another black moment
From a tear stained face
A tiny prayer book
And a hat of lace

Stony eyes are closed
To a heart now stopped
Pretty curls are on a head
Upon a pillow propped

The casket lid is closed
And the wails begin anew
Follow her to the yard of stone
That's what you all should do

The preacher says the word
And then he bows his head
In the local cemetery
Where they keep the dearly dead

Two pretty doves are cooing
As the coffin fills the hole
Another body fades to nothing
But what happens to the soul ?

Please enjoy the evening sunset
And the candles on a cake
Be attentive to the life you live
And be happy when you wake
