A poem about Slavery

"
Millions of people were taken away,
from their homes to work for nothing, no pay.
Separated from family and friends,
Why did people have to be in these conditions?

Chucked on a boat, no room did they have.
Because of not being aloud an education, they couldn't read, write or do math!
All of their rights had been stolen off them,
when could these bad times possibly end?

In the late seventeen-hundreds some people started to see,
Slaves were humans too and they started abolishing slavery!
The campaign grew quickly, and people started to help,
they stopped buying sugar so the trader's profits went down.

Soon slavery was illegal in the British Empire,
but the abolitionists didn't stop, not until the other countries let the slaves retire.
They carried on their campaign to let everyone know,
the color of someones skin doesn't matter, it's what is below!

I liked how you managed to summarize such a long and tragic event into 16 lines. You described the hardships of slavery and the torture of being one very well.

Nice job
