This Creeping Pain

This Creeping Pain

A Poem by Alexander Emberson

Your eyes expressed to me
the waning Crescent’s long departure,
and though I held your shoulder
I could not feel your pulse.

Your vibrant red lips quivered,
but I could not tame their desires,
and the lone Armadillo
made its blind crawl.

So call upon the Muses.
Let them know your name.
Because the Raven flies at dawn,
despite this creeping pain.
