Morning here again I see --

Morning here again I see --

A Poem by Firestone Feinberg

Morning here again I see --
Always a surprise --
Just the way it used to be --
With grey sky -- at sunrise --

Every day a gift I'm told --
For life is ever dear --
Tho often -- as I grow old --
I like when night is near.

i like when night is near also, but yes, it is always nice to wake up each day...we know we made it to another one...survived to live that next day.

Thanks Jacob!
A morning song about the impending everlasting night. The grey sky acts as a kind of metaphor for the ambiguous feeling towards life. Reminded that it is a gift, and acknowledging that it is 'dear' (precious but also expensive, as in an expensive gift) the speaker nevertheless prefers the other end of the day. At dusk, the light naturally fades, and in a short time will give way to darkness, as life gives way to death.
The poem captures wonderfully a twilight mood of resignation and resilience.

...And... the reviewer captures the ego of the speaker -- so much so that he is not likely to get it.. read more
