Ode to my Nightmares

She cast herself along the black background
No sun in the sky
No beating heart
The insecurity of living a life and never seeing an afterlife to tell her tale
His fists are smolders of ash
Never to be dimmed or faded
She can hear his heartbeat
It keeps her up at night
The walls just want to escape from there days of commitment
Nothing lives and loves the way it is
The paint peels from the walls like two sworn enemies
The lace canopy hangs with disappointed thoughts
The lamp shade wants to to dream and fly away
Harsh songs of life knot up her stomach
While the tunes drown out the remorse and flows notes out the brittle windows
He is to never leave her
The house shivers
Reality redefines her entire universe and heart wrenching sorrow
The clock love ticks down with both hands
She wakes up in places shes never known
Only wanting more of what she cant have
Her love deceives her
Only keeps her high for a moment
Until it's all gone
And his heart still ticks like a time bomb
He knows he can never escape himself
Or what he's become along side such a mess that stands with open arms
And she knows she's everything mixed in one
including heartless
She only wishes she had a heart and not a hole
And guts instead of twisted knots of rope
No one can fix such an unmistakable wrong
The stars hide from the moon
Her enemies fade in and out
But he stays longer than forever
The fire in her throat is only the need to say the words that light up someones life
And to never feel alone
But she knows in this life
In this state
She is only the footnote
And when the small universe she calls home finally erupts in her head
And she can hear a heart grown inside
And the lengthy rope turn to gold
She opens her eyes and lives another day
