Hair

Hair

A Poem by Lauren Johnstone
"

Description of a person throught the account of their hair.

"

You see I remember your hair so full of life,
So crazy
so wild
and so free.
You let me see into a past life
the 80’s perm
outdated but - about right.

You see her hair holds:
my secrets
my confessions
and my sweet whispers.
Hidden away in her deep sea of storm full curls.
I believed that nothing showed upon your ebony black
no wonder why I was so truthful.

You see when I saw it laying there; limp and lifeless.
Upon your shoulders
Upon your hands
Upon the floor.
Like at the end of your cigarette,
A flick of your wrist, the gust of wind blown.
Your silver ash lay like the knots in your hair that held me and kept me strong…
